I captured this image at Joshua Tree National Park. The Joshua tree has a unique look. Found in the high desert, the fine needles and distinctive branches of the tree blend with desert sand and boulders to make a peaceful and pleasing image.
This tree, found elsewhere on my site in color, lives on a golf course in southwest Michigan. It’s gnarly roots, beginning above ground, and straw-like grass creates pleasing images both in color and black-and-white.
This stand of trees is in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Thrust together using a wide lens, they create a Cathedral in the sky.

The Torrey Pines State Preserve offers acres of hiking above the cliffs in La Jolla, California. These sandstone deposits, weathered by rain and wind, form patterns against the ocean that please the eye.
Sleeping Bear National Seashore and Park offers miles of camping and hiking along the dunes and shoreline of Northern Lake Michigan near Traverse City. This scenic area Is a favorite for summertime tourists.
